Rice Road: celebrating China's traditional rice paddies

Photographer John Novis along with Greenpeace campaigner Zhong Yu head to China's beautiful rice paddies to document the area's farming culture. Traditional lifestyles are being threatened by the increasing use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, as well as genetically engineered rice plants. For the people of China's southwest countryside, "rice is life" and farming is deeply intertwined with the culture and identity of the people.
