The burden of coal in Inner Mongolia

A recent Greenpeace report revealed China’s key coal consuming provinces Inner Mongolia, Shandong and Shanxi, used 31% of the coal in China, totalling one billion tons of coal. And while the majority of the health impacts stemming from the plants of these three regions happened outside their borders, in 2011 there were still 1,500 deaths in Inner Mongolia, 2,800 deaths in Shanxi and 7,200 deaths in Shandong!
